Well friends,I say better late in weighing in than never providing any commentary at all.
On that note, being a big blues fan myself, this was an inspiring Grammy moment.
It was just too short.I wish the collaborative performance of blues heavy weights B.B. King,Buddy Guy,John Mayer–yes,he’s been anointed a blues man and friend of Guy and B.B. as well, had lasted longer.Mayer stated in an interview with Access Hollywood after winning a Grammy for Best Male Vocal Performance for “Say”,that he and country rocker Keith Urban, joining in the tribute to Bo Diddley, were like two kids playing at the grown up table with the likes of Guy and King who are indisputable blues legends.
Mayer was also anointed one of the “New Guitar Gods” by Rolling Stone magazine in February 2007. In the Access Hollywood interview,Mayer, ever modest told the reporter that he was “really, really blessed” to be performing in the tribute to Bo Diddley with the other blues legends.
It was surely one of my favorite performances from this years Grammy Awards show and a Creativessel Inspiration for sure.
Other favorites of the evening included Jennifer Hudson’s gospel choir backed performance of “You Pulled Me Through”-simply heartwrenching for obvious reasons. She lost most of her immediate family to brutal death just weeks ago and managed to sing that entire song beautifully and without missing a note or breaking down completely. What a great set of pipes!
Honorable Mentions:
Al Green’s spot with Boyz to Men with Justin Timberlake was energetic and still soulful after all these years.Oh yeah and Kanye West’s duet with doing American Boy was a nice touch.Kudos guys!
BTW.Stevie’s Wonder’s performance during Grammys with Jonas Brothers was spirited. He did what he could…
Now back to playing catch up on blogs and my favorite musician(s).Things have been kind of hectic lately.Hope you understand.I still need to get my Inaugural weekend blog posted.I actually ran into music legend Stevie Wonder and old friend Teresa as he was checking in at the Convention Center before the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. What a pleasant suprise.I was even offered an opportunity for a photo-op. But,I’m digressing. I still haven’t shared the experience. You get the picture?
BTW,I need a good IT person,as in computer intelligence…and the party you were requested to perform at turned out nicely.
Peace,
Cynthia Wilson
